Thomas Isler passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026 at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Tom spent his last few days laughing and visiting with close family members.
Tom was born on January 29, 1939 in La Crosse, WI and graduated from Aquinas high school. Tom had one brother, Kenneth Isler, and two sisters, Jeanine Veglahn and Judy Isler.
Tom married the love of his life and best friend Linda on June 4, 1960 and they spent the next 66 years devoted to each other. Linda passed away in January of 2026 and Tom was never quite the same.
Tom’s favorite pass time was golfing, which he played every chance he got. Tom was a long-time member of the original La Crosse Country Club and now Forrest Hills Golf Club. Tom was a member of the state championship Aquinas high school golf team.
Tom retired from his job at the Trane Company in 1996 so he and Linda could move to Arkansas where they would enjoy an extended golfing season. Tom loved playing golf with just about anyone, but he particularly enjoyed the rounds played with his grandson Ryan, his brother Kenny, his Arkansas golfing friends, and his Forrest Hills regulars, both new and old.
After 22 years in Arkansas, Tom and Linda moved back to Holmen, WI where they resided. A deeply religious man, Tom attended church services regularly, even as his health was failing. Tom was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. His passing leaves his family and friends with a deep empty feeling. He will be missed.
Tom is survived by his daughter Susan Dietzman (Eric), brother Ken (Sue), Sister Jeanine, Grandson Ryan Dietzman (Kaitlin), and Great Grandson Archer. Tom was preceded in death by his father Milton, mother Burnell (sp), wife Linda, son David, and sister Judy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the La Crosse “What I Need Now” (WINN) program or the Salvation Army.
