Tony Knutson

Tony Knutson, 86, of Holmen, WI passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at his home. He was born on July 2, 1938 to Olger and Emma (Bergerson) Knutson in Onalaska, WI. He married Carol Roubik and together they raised two children, Kim and Kraig. Tony was drafted into the Army and served our country for two years before he was honorably discharged. He spent his entire career as a truck driver, eventually retiring from Yellow Freight Corporation.

Tony’s passion was the great outdoors. From hunting and fishing at his cabin in Montana to taking trips into Canada to hunt moose, he was a true outdoorsman. In his later years, he loved to sit out on the patio watching the birds and enjoying the perfect lawn and garden that he meticulously took care of. He also loved grilling ribeyes and could make a great old fashioned.

Tony was a stubborn Norwegian whose toughness helped him overcome the many health problems he battled over the last ten years. His strength and persistence were evident while undergoing dialysis, where he made numerous friends that nicknamed themselves “The Bad Boys”.

Tony is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol; children, Kim Knutson and Kraig (Julie Kluge) Knutson; granddogs, Piper and Izzy; brother, Dick Knutson; many nieces and nephews; good buddy, Bill Zink; and special friends, Dawn McGrath, Chris Esser, Scott (Angie) Harmel, Don Peterson, and Gene, his barber.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Evangeline, Odell, Louise, Wayne, and Carrol.

The Knutson family would like to give a special thanks to the Gundersen Dialysis Team, Gundersen Hospice, the Home Health Aids from the VA, and especially to Tony’s wife, Carol, for the wonderful care they provided for Tony.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of Onalaska. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Friday at the Holmen American Legion Post 284.
