Travis T. Brommerich, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the young age of 41. Born on September 19, 1983, in Winona, Minnesota, he was the cherished son of Timothy and Glenda (Washburn) Brommerich.
Growing up, Travis spent most of his childhood on the family farm with his two aunts and his Grandma Betty. He always found joy in the simple things that life had to offer. From watching Grandma Betty create her famous homemade “pannicakes” using flour, eggs, and sugar, to adventuring and exploring the outdoors. Family vacations brought many joyful experiences, too, such as when Travis participated in a show at SeaWorld in Florida. After becoming a part of the action, he found himself thoroughly splashed with water by a whale’s tail. His childhood was marked by not only a lot of adventure but also a little mischief, such as the time he overheard his dad talking about cutting down a tree in their yard and decided to take it upon himself and the help of his younger brother to cut it down themselves. Not knowing what tree was talked about, Travis and his little brother, Israel, went and cut down a tree on their own. Before anyone knew it, there was a loud noise and a tree laying on the ground. At just seven years old, Travis took the blame for the tree mishap, while his younger brother, Israel, fled the scene as soon as Grandma and Grandpa made their way outside to investigate. Despite the incident, these moments only deepened the family bonds that would remain important to Travis throughout his life and left a laugh that will remain a treasured moment in their family history.
He attended Jefferson Elementary School, Winona Middle School, and Winona High School, where he excelled academically and developed lasting friendships. His education continued at Winona Technical College, where he nurtured his passion for learning and personal growth. Throughout his life, Travis was known not just as a great student but as someone always eager to lend a hand to those in need.
Travis was dedicated and versatile. He worked at various establishments, including G&T Cleaning with his father, Midtown Foods in Winona, and the Winona Aquatic Center, where he not only served as a lifeguard but also learned the art of scuba diving. His career path also took him to ColorWare of Winona, Jim's Truck and Trailer in Winona, Advance Auto Parts in La Crosse, 1st Supply of La Crosse, and working part-time cutting grass with his uncle, Richard. He took pride in his role as a security guard with O'Brien Security, where he had the unique opportunity to provide security for the 2018 Super Bowl. Most recently, he was employed at Concrete Solutions of West Salem, where he continued to contribute to his community.
Outside of work, Travis’s enthusiasm for life was evident in the hobbies and interests he pursued. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, taking pictures of nature, spending quality time with friends at concerts and music festivals, and playing golf with his dad and two brothers. He was passionate about football, traveling to new places, and embracing every opportunity for adventure and a little wind therapy.
Travis is survived by his loving family, including his parents, Timothy and Glenda (Washburn) Brommerich, and his brothers, Israel (Leila) Brommerich and Toby (Megan) Brommerich. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Richard and Carol W., along with two aunts, Jane and Sarah, who cherished him deeply, along with many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Travis is preceded in death by his beloved Grandma Betty Brommerich, uncles Daniel and Michael Brommerich, his aunt Valinda (Washburn) Smith, and his dear dog, Gracie.
Not long after Travis passed away, his mother discovered a note written by him. The note said, " My mom and dad have health problems, they were looking for central air for their home. Being the oldest son and thinking of all that they did for me and my brothers, I figured out of love for my family, I would help them out because they mean a lot to me." This note genuinely reflects the essence of Travis and the deep affection he held for his family. Travis will forever be remembered for his thoughtful nature, generous spirit, and the love he shared with everyone around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
