Veronica Irene Newburg

Veronica Irene Newburg, 74, passed away July 31, 2025, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse following a stroke. A resident of La Crosse for 45 years, Veronica was born in Faribault, Minnesota, on October 31, 1950, to Leo and Irene Thompson. She graduated from Faribault Senior High School in 1968 and Winona Medical Secretarial School in 1969. She married Robert "Newby" Newburg in Rochester, Minnesota, in October 1979. They had one daughter, Blythe (Trevor) McConaughey.

Veronica worked as a medical secretary and transcriptionist at Mayo Clinic Rochester and Gundersen Lutheran La Crosse for 40 years. She enjoyed reading, classic rock, and of course, the Green Bay Packers.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Marlene Karrow, Joan Pitsavas, and Carol Nichols, her husband Robert, and special friend Mike Johnson. She is survived by her daughter Blythe and son-in-law Trevor, brothers Fran, Patrick, and Mark Thompson, sister Bernadette Marx, and many nieces and nephews.

Per Veronica's request, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Coulee Recovery Center in La Crosse.
