Virginia I. “Ginnie” Juen, 85 of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, after a brief stay at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in La Crosse. She was born on December 6, 1939, to the late Harry Le Roy and Gertrude Opdahl. She was a proud homemaker and talented seamstress. She loved working in her yard and was an avid Jeopardy watcher who usually could get more correct answers than her entire family. Her greatest accomplishment was her family and being known as Grandma Juen. She was also known for her warmth, genuine positivity, and great stories creating a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Wendy (Dan) Christofferson of Alexandria, VA, and Lisa (Karl) Bekkum of Sheboygan, WI; five grandchildren, Sarah Beth (Michael) Rodrigues of King George, VA and Sean (Amber) Darr of Fredericksburg, VA, Jenna, Jonah and Caleb Bekkum of Sheboygan, WI; three great-grandchildren, Riley Burgess of Fredericksburg, VA and Isaac and Elijah Rodrigues of King George, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) in 2014; infant son, Scott Richard Juen; and her siblings Rita, Ed, Ken, Carol, Therese, and Mary.
The family would like to thank her wonderful neighbors who were always very helpful and kind to her: Martha and Randy Kemp and Andy Pesta (Amber) along with the compassionate staff at Mayo Health Clinic.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at St. James The Less Catholic Church in La Crosse with a luncheon to follow. Rev. Robert Letona will officiate. Burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Judes Children’s Hospital and St. James the Less Catholic Church.
