Virginia "Virgi" Mannstedt

January 16, 1936 — September 27, 2025

On September 27th, 2025 "Virgi" Mannstedt passed into Heaven to be with the Lord and all the saints who have passed before her. Survivors: Kim Dockham, (Ronn Kale), Brad Mannstedt (Nancy) and Doug Mannstedt. Our mom was "The Best" at making home-made meals, baking, housekeeping, knitting, bowling, washing our cars, mowing the lawn and being a taxi-mom. Very seldom taking time for herself. No sacrifice was too big for her family! For years of Virgi's life she served, in various areas at Good Shepherd Church. She also was a dedicated volunteer at Gundersen Health.

"Grandma Virgi" loved and adored her 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons and her 3 great-granddaughters. Most recent was the birth of her 4th and only great grandson. Along with 3 of her granddaughters, she also has 3 loving grandson-in-laws who stole her heart too. Even though they all live several hours away, they made special trips to La Crosse to visit "Grandma (great) Virgi". She enjoyed face-timing, photo updates, cards, and being remembered with all the little gifts that her grandkids brought to her from their travels.

Two special nieces and their loving families remained constant in their "Aunt Virgi's" life with frequent visits, goulash parties, and inviting her to special family events. A baby boy born recently in the family soon became "her baby". Close friends sent cards, visited at times, and called often to check-in on their friend "Virgi." Never forgotten.

Eventually Eagle Crest South became "Home" and the caregivers were her "girls and boys". There was no doubt how much they truly loved "Their Virgi." Lots of kisses, hugs and "I love you's" were shared every day, every shift. Over the past several months, the Hospice Team became a vital part of "Virgi's" total well-being. Virgi (mom) made sure that they had reasons to continue their visits and promise to come back.

Our cherished Mom spent several years struggling through the stages of dementia. It was evident that her memory suffered, but the dementia demon could not take away her unique, happy, loving and grateful personality. A true testimony to how she lived her life. Mom did not want a funeral. For this reason we have granted her this request. She wanted everyone to remember her "as herself". Please take a moment to say it's ok to feel sad and cry, but please let that moment pass and remember that even though "SHE is gone from our sight, she will live in our hearts forever."
